Travis’ lifetime of adventure started as a child, born in the Deep South, where he learned to wrestle reptiles knee-deep in the bayous of Louisiana. At ten, his family packed him off to Oregon, and he spent his teen years racing downhill mountain bikes, running rivers and climbing mountains in the Pacific Northwest. After high school, he was chomping at the bit and set his sights on the tropical travel circuit. Eschewing college for the island life, he worked charter boats and taught scuba divers in tropical hotspots from the Central Pacific and the Caribbean to the Red Sea.

Today, he luxuriates in the laid-back southern lifestyle of Savannah, GA, where he throws his adventurous spirit and love for the sea into his work for Men’s Journal, Scuba Diving, and Sport Diver. He’s also a contributing “travel expert” for Orbitz’s travel-media site Away.com, where he is building a worldwide scuba diving travel guide online.
